The mission of the Journalism and Mass Communication program at AUBG is to offer professional training and education in the skills necessary for working in the various branches of the media in the 21st century.

Our emphasis is to help students develop their critical thinking and analytical skills, to give them the ability to synthesize information and to hone their writing and visual skills, which are the cornerstone cross-media tools critical for success as a communicator in every branch of journalism, advertising and public relations.

In addition to courses that lay the foundation of analyzing and understanding the principles, values and ethics of the mass media, students also actively participate in the learning process by actually having to do journalism in all its varieties. In JMC courses students report and write articles; they edit and shoot photographs; they edit and integrate text and images; they conduct computer-assisted research; they acquire and hone computer skills necessary for media production. All students majoring in JMC are required to do an internship with a media organization for a minimum of 8 working weeks in order to gain practical experience.
