   Gale Digital Collections 

We would like to inform you that trials for few databases from the Gale Digital Collections have been confirmed until April 24th, 2010. You can access them through Panitza Library webpage – www.aubg.bg/library  or use the links below. All four collections offer unprecedented access to a highly targeted, specialized information (in many cases -rare primary source materials) that is delivered in a cross-searchable digital format. 

 

Archives Unbound presents topically focused digital collections of historical documents that support the research and study needs of scholars and students at the college and university level. Collections in Archives Unbound cover a broad range of topics from the Middle Ages forward - from Witchcraft to World War II to Twentieth-century political history. All collections for Archives Unbound are based on requests from scholars, archivists, and students. More information.

 

Eighteenth Century Collections Online - This database includes over 180,000 titles (200,000 volumes) of books, pamphlets, essays, broadsides and more. It is based on the English Short Title Catalogue. Most of the works are published in the UK during the 18th century, plus thousands from elsewhere. The language is primarily in English, but also includes other languages.  More information.

 

Post-War Europe: Refugees, Exile and Resettlement, 1945-1950 - Post-War Europe is a resource for:  World War II Studies, Displaced Persons and Refugee Studies, Holocaust and Jewish Studies, Post-War History of Germany, Eastern Europe , Yugoslavia , Greece and Italy . The topics are macro political and day-to-day survival issues like: the role of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Commission; the international response to the refugee crisis in Europe; life in the DP camps, the rise of Zionism and determination to secure a Jewish homeland in Palestine; the Soviet attitude to refugees from Eastern Europe and the breakdown in US/Soviet relations. Conditions and Politics in Occupied Western Europe, 1940-1945 - The collection includes detailed information indexed by year and section, from the occupied states of Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway and the Vatican, and the neutral countries – Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, along with a day-by-day chronology of the war, photographs and posters from The National Archives, film footage of Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents in France from the Imperial War Museum, links to related resources and three newly commissioned essays by leading experts in addition to a comprehensive introduction by Dr. Michael Stenton.
